The Supply Closet
by Lisa

This month I'll be looking at the Stargate SG-1 Convention Special comic book. There was an art cover for 2.99 & a photo cover for 3.95. There was also a platinum edition that was offered as a dealer incentive. Which basically means if the dealer buys "x" amount of the regular books they can order 1 of these. This edition is the same art cover with the SG-1 logo in foil lettering. Also recently announced is yet another art cover due out in the near future.

Now onto the meat of the book. There is only 9 story pages, a couple of pin-ups & two preview pages for the P.O.W. series. The art is just slightly above average with the men looking pretty good (not great but passible) but Sam is unidentifiable. She's only in 2 panels but if you didn't know who she was supposed to be you'd never guess.

Stargate Convention Special

The story is extremely short so you don't really have time to get into the rythem. It's set in the middle of a battle with Teal'C, Bra'tac & Daniel on the ground fighting Jaffa. Jack & Sam are onboard a Pyramid ship trying to disable it. The plot is one we've all seen & read before. With the exception of Teal'c & Bra'tac there is no character interaction.

I was really looking forward to this comic & was pretty disappointed overall. Hopefully the series that begins in January will take the time to play out a better story & give us some character development. I give this one 2 Chevrons. The cover price is too high for so little. This one's for die hards only.
